Aafter just a few days in office, Barack Obama has added being the first green, veggie president to his long list of White House firsts. As the 44th president takes office, Obama’s fit appearance is making Americans rethink meat and potatoes-heavy diets.

CEO of diet delivery program, Zone Delivery USA, Mike Naples says, “Regardless of political affiliation, we can all learn something from Obama’s dedication to healthy eating”. Here are some tips from the Obama diet:

The first President Bush haaated broccoli, but the new era President is reportedly all about the bushy cabbage. Often coined as “miracle food”, it packs the most nutritional punch of any vegetables; broccoli also contains vitamin C, vitamin A, and calcium.

Raw Nuts

Walnuts, almonds and pecans contain vitamins such as thiamin, niacin, folate, phosphorus and zinc. Walnuts, in particular, are a great source of Omega 3s. Research has also shown that the 3 pm snack can lead to weight loss by cutting your appetite. The key here is raw nuts – not over salted, dry roasted peanuts.

Organic Berry Tea

Obama drinks this to rejuvenate after workouts because of its cancer-fighting antioxidants and it keeps him energized enough with only half the caffeine of coffee.

Eating a healthy breakfast improves overall nutrition, the ability to concentrate and controls your weight; but again, Obama’s not chomping on bacon egg and cheese sandwiches; he’s enjoying a hearty meal.

With a new year and new president leading us, we can take notes from the leader of the free world.
