FDA says Hydroxycut dietary supplement is posting a liver injury and asks the consumers to immediately stop using Hydroxycut. FDA at this point does not know which ingredients are causing the health danger and asks the consumers to report any side effects, while issuing immediate Hydroxycut recall.

The weight loss pill Hydroxycut involved in this current recall is made by Iovate Health Sciences Inc., of Oakville, Ontario and distributed by Iovate Health Sciences USA Inc. of Blasdell. We visited www.iovate.com/ and were disappointed by not finding direct information about it's Hydroxycut recall, instead Iovate names it "Important Information Regarding The Recent FDA Consumer Advisory," directing the the advisory information page. Why not directly to say, "we are recalling Hydroxycut; please don't use it because it's dangersous for your health." Aren't you sick of the pharmaceutical companies trying to soften the situation by not directly telling their own consumers about the exact situation in plain English? Especially when FDA writes in the advisory that "Iovate has agreed to recall Hydroxycut products from the market."

Hydroxycut products are dietary supplements that are marketed for weight-loss, as fat burners, as energy-enhancers, as low carb diet aids, and for water loss under the Iovate and MuscleTech brand names.

Although the FDA has not received reports of serious liver-related adverse reactions for all Hydroxycut products, Iovate has agreed to recall all the products listed above. Hydroxycut Cleanse and Hoodia products are not affected by the recall. Consumers who have any of the products involved in the recall are advised to stop using them and to return them to the place of purchase. The agency has not yet determined which ingredients, dosages, or other health-related factors may be associated with risks related to these Hydroxycut products. The products contain a variety of ingredients and herbal extracts.

FDA asks the consumers, doctors and other health care professionals to report any side effects that they may see or experience while using Hydroxycut. This is particularly important in the light of this current Hydroxycut recall.

Some people have expressed their satisfaction about this Hydroxycut recall. For example DarthApathy Twits "FDA announces recall of Hydroxycut. Good, I hate those badly photoshopped pictures." However, some other Hydroxycut addicts are not happy with the FDA advised recall as those people have been using it for a long time. Some others say that the optimal way to lose weight and follow a healthy diet is the healthy lifestyle with exercise and fitness.

Doctor Linda Katz, the interim chief medical officer of the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition writes in the release advisor that FDA urges consumers to immediately stop using Hydroxycut in order to avoid any undue health risk.

Aren't you sick of the pharmaceutical companies trying to soften the situation by not directly telling their own consumers about the exact situation in plain English? Especially when FDA writes in the advisory that "Iovate has agreed to recall Hydroxycut products from the market." I, too, visited www.iovate.com --- what I found there seemed pretty straightforward. It's not like anything is swept under the carpet. Go to the site and the ONLY thing you see besides Iovate's name is the notice "Important Information Regarding The Recent FDA Consumer Advisory - Click here to read more" When you click, it brings you to a news release announcing the FDA released a consumer advisory. Even if Iovate may not agree that the advisory was necessary - and I expect that it is within their rights to disagree - they state that the FDA urges people to stop taking Hydroxycut, and that they are voluntarily recalling the product. What more do you expect? When there are a number of complaints of adverse effects about a product, the best the company can do is recall the product and investigate as to the nature of the problem. I don't see how their action is insufficient or inappropriate in any way.
Thankx for the information,I just told my wife to stop taking the pills, and we saw this on nightly news on kyw3. I threw the pills out.My email is [email protected], just to let me know if there's anything else dangerous out there including the swine flu!
I have taken Hydroxycut only to recieve liver damage myself, and I only took it for three days. My Doctor advised me to stop taking it saying it could be the only cause of the liver problems. I had No medical problems before taking hydroxycut except for only wanting to loose 30 pounds. This happened a little over three months ago and ever since I have been advising friends and family not to take the product even though most of them knew it was the cause of my medical problems.
It's hardly a shame that Hydroxycut is finally going down. This is a product that has caused irreparable harm to those individuals and this company deserves what's coming to them.

-Jason, Ultimate Colon Cleanse

I lost 90 lbs taking Hydroxycut exercising and dieting over the last year.... I think that they should have a warning label like other products and remain on the shelves....

It is always risky to use some diet pills for losing weight. That's why I prefer some natural ways to lose weight. How to lose weight is best by eating properly, doing some exercises properly and have enough sleep.
