Bio: 48 yr old wh female diagnosed in Mar '08 with DM CPK at diagnosis was 4800, mild to moderate interstitial lung disease, JO1 pos, past history of RSD as diagnosed by Mayo Clinic in mid 90's, totally in remission no meds, no problems when I started developing rashes and weakness. Now taking 10mg pred daily, 225 mg IMURAN, oxycontin for pain; cymbalta for pain related to depression; buspar for anxiety, nexium & 50.000 units of Vit D per wk. ~ disease is now documented as prednisone dependent and I cannot seem to go below 10 mg without causing a disease flare and CPK to jump into the 1450 range. Struggling to maintain my life. currently on disability due to weakness and lung issues, husband has the burden of taking care of me and working, thankfully kids are all grown up and are on their own. My dream would be to travel to one of the myositis centers to see if they could help me obtain alternate treatment such as IVIG or any of the new biologics that might allow me to attain a remission. MY FAVORITE BIBLE VERSE: as for me my flesh shall remain in hope. May God grant each of us the strength we need to endure these dreaded diseases so that the next ones to become ill may not have to suffer as badly or for as long.
