As we age, getting off the couch to exercise gets difficult, and even a little noisy. Sometimes creaky bones and muscles can make more noise than a busted spring in the sofa, but there is a way to break the cycle, and you don’t have to join a health club to do it.

Could Religious Beliefs Affect Compliance with Ocular Treatment?

For people of strong faith, religious beliefs and related cultural taboos can have a powerful impact on how they care for their health, including the medical treatments they choose to accept. Increasingly, ophthalmologists (Eye M.D.s) in the US and other countries, care for patients of diverse backgrounds. This is accelerating the need for reliable information on the interaction of religious beliefs and compliance with prescribed vision treatments.

Those who worship a higher power often do so in different ways. Whether they are active in their religious community, or prefer to simply pray or meditate, new research out of Temple University suggests that a person's religiousness - also called religiosity - can offer insight into their risk for depression.

With the start of Ramadan the Muslism in America are fasting, which means a month of obligatory daily fasting. Ramadan fasting challenges both the healthy and the sick.

Daily fasts begin at dawn and end with sunset. Special nightly prayers called, Taraweeh prayers are held. The entire Quran is recited in these prayers in Mosques all around the world. This month provides an opportunity for Muslims to get closer to God.

Ramadan fasting is a month when a Muslim should try to: see not what displeases God, peak no evil, hear no evil, do no evil and look to God with fear and hope.

UC Studies Healing Touch Therapy Effects

Often, a gentle hand on your shoulder when you’re upset is all it takes to ease your mind and calm your nerves. Now, UC researchers are looking at a similar occurrence by pairing a complementary therapy known as Healing Touch with mild sedation to see if the technique truly calms patients undergoing minor procedures.

Healing Touch is a series of techniques that balance energy for wholeness within a person’s body, mind and soul. It is an energy therapy that can be used in conjunction with other traditional medical treatments.

Healing Blindness and Seeing God

The next question might be whether or not spiritual infirmities have a spiritual cause, and this must usually be answered in the affirmative. If we are spiritually blind - and this relates more directly to us than physical blindness - then, yes, most likely it is because of our sin that we are thus afflicted. So we ought to take a closer look, if the glory of God is to be manifested in us as well.

Although the results of this study point to a significant value in believing that free will exists, it clearly raises some significant societal questions about personal beliefs and personal behavior.
