Men with facial scars are more attractive to women seeking short-term relationships, scientists at the University of Liverpool have found.

It was previously assumed that in Western cultures scarring was an unattractive facial feature and in non-Western cultures they were perceived as a sign of maturity and strength. Scientists at Liverpool, however, have found that Western women find scarring on men attractive and may associate it with health and bravery.

Hairspray is linked to common genital birth defect, says study.

Women who are exposed to hairspray in the workplace during pregnancy have more than double the risk of having a son with the genital birth defect hypospadias, according to a new study published today in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives.

The study is the first to show a significant link between hairspray and hypospadias, one of the most common birth defects of the male genitalia, where the urinary opening is displaced to the underside of the penis. The causes of the condition are poorly understood.

CSI, USA, Inc. issued a voluntary nationwide consumer product recall of all lots of 1 ounce (28 g) tubes of 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Cream with the following names: "DG Maximum Strength Acne Medicated Gel" (sold at Dollar General); "Kroger Acne Gel 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Medication" (sold at Kroger); and "Equate: Medicated Acne Gel" (sold at Wal-Mart).

These products are being recalled because samples of the products were found to contain bacteria identified as "Burkholderia Cepacia," formerly known as Pseudomonas Cepacia.
