Heart Healthy Dining

Genghis Grill launches first of four Heart Healthy Bowls at all 20 locations nationwide -- Asian Chili Scallop Bowl. The new heart healthy bowl will feature a recipe with a variety of fresh heart-healthy ingredients from Khan's Kitchen (a food bar featuring an array of ingredients). Three more recipes are scheduled to launch nationwide starting in the next 3 quarters of 2008.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the nation's number one killer. Bad eating habits can lead to increased risk factors for several types of heart disease. This is according to Medical City Hospital in Dallas, TX. Genghis Grill teamed up with Medical City Hospital, and together created a unique program to help consumers find healthy dining options.

To meet the criteria for the program, Genghis Grill had its recipes analyzed by a registered dietitian brought in by Medical City. Each ingredient in the recipe was checked based on dietary guidelines from the American Heart Association. Following these guidelines, each ingredient has levels of calories, total fat, saturated fat, fiber and sodium. Trans fats are not permitted in any of the recipes endorsed by the program.

At Genghis Grill, diners "build their own bowls" from a selection of fresh meats, spices, vegetables, and sauces in Khan's Kitchen. Guests then hand the creation over to one of the Grill Masters, who cooks it on a large, round grill right before their eyes.

Since Genghis Grill has a food bar featuring an array of ingredients, a unique sticker system was created so customers can identify ingredients that are part of the Heart Healthy recipe.

For the many health-conscious Americans who seek foods that are low in fat, calories, or carbohydrates, Genghis Grill also offers 12 deliciously healthy Traditional and Signature recipes to their FANS (customers) from their food bar.
