Martek Biosciences's life'sDHA, its patented, vegetarian form of DHA omega-3 for brain, eye and heart health, is now available to Australian consumers in Pocket Rocket Juice sold at Boost Juice Bars nationwide. Boost Juice is the largest juice and smoothie chain in the Southern Hemisphere.

Featuring 700 mg of life'sDHA per serving, Pocket Rocket Juice provides more than 100 percent of Australia's suggested dietary intake of omega-3s as established by the Australian government. It is estimated that Australians eating an average diet consume only 189 mg of omega-3s per day, far less than Australia's suggested dietary intake of between 430 and 610 mg.

"The Pocket Rocket Juice from Boost Juice illustrates the continued growth of products with life'sDHA in the Australian market," said Joe Buron, vice president of marketing and sales for Martek. "We're pleased to be working with one of Australia's biggest franchise brands to make life'sDHA more available to consumers."

About DHA

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) omega-3 is a long-chain omega-3 fatty acid that serves as a primary building block for the brain and the eyes and supports brain, eye and cardiovascular health throughout life. There is a large and growing body of scientific evidence demonstrating that people of all ages, from infants to aging adults, benefit from an adequate supply of DHA omega-3 in their diets. Scientific reviews have noted the importance of DHA omega-3 in proper brain and eye development and function, and there are large clinical studies underway to evaluate its role in decreasing the prevalence of certain neurological disorders.

In the Nutrient Reference Values for Australia and New Zealand including Recommended Dietary Intakes, the Australian government suggests intakes of 610 mg of omega-3 fatty acids (DHA/ DPA/EPA) per day for adult males and 430 mg per day for adult females.

About life'sDHA

Fish are often thought to be the only source of DHA omega-3. However, life'sDHA offers a trusted, vegetarian form of DHA that contains no oceanic pollutants and toxins. Fish are good sources of DHA because of the DHA-rich microalgae in their food chain; life'sDHA is derived from microalgae and produced in an FDA-inspected facility from start to finish using a sustainable source that does not deplete ocean resources. life'sDHA is found in numerous foods, beverage and supplements for people of all ages. It is also the only source of DHA used in U.S. infant formula and is available in more than 90 percent of the formulas on the U.S. market.

In Australia, Martek is represented by distributor VILCO PTY LTD, Australia, to help expand the market for life'sDHA in food and beverages in Australia.
