Apples are really good. They are nutritious and delicious. However other than that, apples may also prevent hardening of arteries.

A study involving hamsters was conducted and it was found out that apple juice has properties which can be a protection against cardiovascular problems. According to Kelly Decorde of the University of Montpelier in France, part of the European research team, processing the apples into juice may help in increasing the bio-availability of the compounds and anti-oxidants that is present in the whole fruit.

Aortic plaque has been studied to identify how effective it is in decreasing plaque that is linked with atherosclerosis or "hardening" of arteries which was caused by multiple plaques in the arteries.

The study shows that processing apples into juice can change its protective effects of its phenolics against diet induced oxidative stress and atheresclerosis in hamsters.
