On Wednesday, President Obama held a conference call with some 1000 religious leaders and some 140,000 listeners to discuss health insurance reform. The call was one of two phone-based events this week, after a series of high-profile town-hall meetings by the president. The other will be held Thursday, billed as a "live strategy meeting" in which Obama will update political supporters about his reform efforts.

Several dozen health insurance companies across the nation received letters today from Democrats asking them to divulge financial information. The letters were sent by House Energy and Commerce panel Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) chairman of the panel’s subcommittee on oversight and investigations.

When President Obama addressed the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Phoenix, Arizona, he emphasized that health insurance coverage for service personnel was not in jeopardy. “No one is going to take away your benefits,” he said.
