Skin Care Product Recall

Pacific Bioscience Laboratories Inc. (PBL) is initiating a voluntary safety recall of the Clarisonic Skin Care System nationwide.

Name of Product: Clarisonic Skin Care System

Units: While the reported incidence rate has been about one in ten thousand, the company is exchanging all affected Clarisonics for free. The recall pertains to all SKUs manufactured prior to July 2007.

New, unaffected units are clearly marked with a box label that reads: "NEW DESIGN, ADVANCED ENGINEERING .

Distributor: Pacific Bioscience Laboratories Inc., Bellevue WA

Hazard: The handle or charger can overheat, which potentially could result in injury or even catching fire. This issue is limited to the product ,, s internal electronic components, and is not an issue of effect on the skin.

Incidents/Injuries: No serious injuries have been reported.

Description: Hand held rechargeable handle with charger base.

Sold at: The Clarisonic Skin Care System has been available since late 2004 and is distributed through prestige retailers, dermatologists, other medical offices and select spas for a suggested retail price of $195. Assembled in: USA

Remedy: Consumers should return their affected Clarisonics in exchange for a replacement. The replacements include advanced engineering that securely corrects the potential problem, and carry a fresh warranty, doubled to two years.

Consumer Contact: Consumers who have the Clarisonic Skin Care System should go to www.clarisonic.com/recall, or call 1-866-378-7360 (6am " 6pm, Monday " Friday Pacific Time) to make arrangements for free return and replacement of their affected Clarisonic.
