Homeopathy Campaign To Make People More Aware

India on Monday kick-started a sustained homeopathy campaign to make people aware of the usefulness of homeopathy for diseases relating to mother and child.

Inaugurating a National Workshop on Homeopathy for Mother and Child Care, Minister for State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaka Lakshmi said, "this is the beginning of a long and sustained campaign proposed by the Ministry to generate awareness about the usefulness of homeopathy for mother and child care".

Homeopathy has a definite role to play in Indian health system not only because its medicines are simple to administer, but also because homeopathy is effective, safe and affordable, she said.

"With mounting price rise and increasing incidence of adverse drug reactions people are using homeopathy and the Homeopathic institutions for the treatment of their ailments," she added.

"I would advise the department to organise a sustained campaign so that the general public can be made aware of the usefulness of homeopathy for conditions and diseases related to women and children," Lakshmi said.

The integration of alternative medicine systems with mainstream health care of one of the objectives of the NHRM, she added.
