Researchers say there is no risk of Guillain-Barré Syndrome following HPV vaccine. Though HPV vaccine has not be linked to the disease, recommendations to continue monitoring for new cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome within six weeks of HPV vaccine will be presented at the American Academy of Neurology's 61st Annual Meeting in Seattle, April 25 to May 2, 2009.

Commissioners Court in Dallas County, Texas, lifted a 13-year-old ban on condom distribution, authorizing the county health department to distribute no-cost condoms in an effort to curb the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

Syphilis is a disease that was close to being eliminated as a public health threat less than a decade ago. Each year since 2000, it has increased and remains a serious threat to the health of gay and bisexual men. Syphilis is of particular concern because it can facilitate HIV transmission. Blacks were disproportionately affected by sexually transmitted infection rates in 2007, including chlamydia rates that reached a record high and syphilis rates that increased for the seventh consecutive year.
