Living well is a choice. Are you living well and feeling energized /healthy? Any sense of imbalance in the body and mind due to unmanaged stress can create blocked energy within the body and mind. The human body is alive due to the energy we possess.

Physicians estimate that 85 to 90% of the patients they treat are challenged by a stress related condition. Unmanaged stress and blocked energy in the body are linked to: headaches, weight issues, colds, flu, sleep disorders, heart disease and addiction/relapse. Other conditions of unmanaged stress include: fatigue, arthritis, skin disorders and worry, anxiety and depression.

Today our lives are routinely tension filled and pressure packed. Stress seems to be the norm. Often we experience a feeling of being out of control. Stress may manifest due to: financial concerns, world issues/safety, environments, aging, job/school pressures. Avoidance of stressors is highly unlikely.

A recent annual poll sponsored by a major US company found that 80% of workers feel stress while actively involved in their work duties. 42% say their co-workers are in need of assistance for managing stress and 62% of the workers polled shared that they leave work feeling stressed.

Job stress in the US comes with a hefty price tag of over $300 billion annually. Employers, employees and society in general foot the bill. Maybe it's time we used prevention strategies that are cost effective and keep future costs down. We present ourselves as a society that is health oriented, but do we truly value wellness and implement it? Is it time for insurance companies to step up to the plate? Lets remember that there are many uninsured people in this country who are middle class citizens.

Managing and reducing stress levels can be accomplished by learning basic self-care and wellness practices. Exercises such as Tia Chi, Pal Dan Gum, meditation, finger/energy holds and acupressure unblock energy and relieve stress. These holistic approaches have been part of Chinese culture for over 6000 years. They have helped many addicts maintain sobriety and others have used them to manage weight or control work exhaustion. The body and mind have amazing power to self-heal, balance and regulate. These practices can be learned through a Wellness Educator. Should every environment, company, school, medical facility, Tx center etc be trained in wellness principles?

More dollars need to be put towards prevention. Exercises that empower and are life changing enhance our society. We cannot expect to live in a stress free world, but we can expect this topic to receive the attention it deserves. Stress is a fact. Keep in mind that the latest research on stress states that if managed efficiently and effectively, stress actually builds chemical in humans to build the immune system not destroy it.
