The Ocean County Health Department will be giving pediatric seasonal flu shots on Thursday, October 1st and Thursday, October 22nd from 3:30 to 5:30 at the Health Department’s main site at 175 Sunset Avenue, Toms River. The immunization clinic is for children from the age of six months to 8 years.

Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling 732-341-9700, ext. 7604. The seasonal flu shot costs $20.00.

The seasonal flu shot will not protect your child from H1N1 influenza nor will the H1N1 vaccine protect your child from seasonal flu. The Ocean County Health Department is preparing for its H1N1 immunization clinics as the vaccine has not yet been distributed to vaccination sites.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention strongly recommends children from the ages of 6 months to 18 years be vaccinated against seasonal flu. Children who are 9 years of age and above can get their seasonal flu shot at one of our many adult seasonal flu clinics that will be offered throughout Ocean County.
