The Allegheny County Health Department and Department of Human Services have teamed up to produce posters for educating the public on how to stop the spread of H1N1 influenza.

The posters, intended for schools as well as workplaces, list simple precautions everyone can take to reduce transmission of not only H1N1 but seasonal influenza too.

The precautions include covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands, wiping down shared-use objects, staying home when you are sick and getting vaccinated once influenza vaccines become available.

Items people can use to stop the flu also are listed, such as facial tissue, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and a thermometer for detecting a fever.
