Dallas County Health and Human Services has confirmed the county's sixth human case of West Nile virus for the 2009 season.
The patient, who lives in University Park (75205), was diagnosed with West Nile Fever and is recovering at home.
For medical confidentiality and personal privacy reasons, DCHHS does not provide additional identifying information.
"Dallas County wants to alert the public that the mosquitoes that carry West Nile virus are here and they're active," said Zachary Thompson, DCHHS Director. "It is important that residents do their part by taking the necessary precautions to avoid exposure to the virus."
The best way to avoid exposure to West Nile Virus is to practice the three Ds: * use insect repellents that contain DEET * Drain any standing water and * Dress in long, loose and light-colored clothing during dawn and dusk hours.
