The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the license to practice medicine of Terence Arthur R. Whiteman, M.D., based on his convictions in the 45th Judicial Circuit Court, Centreville, Michigan.
On May 15, 2008, Whiteman, 48, was convicted of one felony count of criminal sexual conduct - first degree; three felony counts of criminal sexual conduct - second degree; one felony count of criminal sexual conduct - third degree; five felony counts of controlled substance - delivery/manufacture; one felony count of prescription forms - manufacture/delivery; and one misdemeanor count of criminal sexual conduct - fourth degree.
Whiteman is currently awaiting sentencing in this matter.
On Dec. 15, 2008, MDCH issued an order summarily suspending Whiteman's license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony, a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum term of two years, or a controlled substance-related conviction.
An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Whiteman's license to practice medicine.
