All Kids health insurance program is aimed at enrolling as much Illinois children as possible.
On Saturday the health insurance coverage campaign, organized by Chicago Sun-Times and Resurrection Health Care, was enrolling children at 50 areas in Chicago and offering $50 gas cards for those 1000 families who would insure their kids. Governor Rod Blagojevich also took part in the campaign.
Announcement was issued earlier at a conference saying that the first families applying for health insurance will get gas cards. This was done because most of parents did not believe they would qualify for health insurance and the gas cards came just to attract more families. However, when most of families found they are actually qualified for children's health insurance in Illinois, they were surprised and very happy.
All Kids Illinois health insurance program launched in July 2006 and there have been about 1.4 million children enrolled since the beginning of the program. However, there are still another 250000 children with no coverage.
All the families know that children's health insurance is a must, but most of them are unable to pay for private health insurance services. All Kids Illinois health insurance program enables almost everyone to be covered: those suffering from pre-existing conditions, such as asthma or seizures can be easily covered in this program, children in middle-class families may also be insured, because these families work hard, but can not afford expensive health insurance, and finally emigrant families, who have never hoped they will qualify for health insurance, are having no problems with residency and emigrant statuses.
It is not yet estimated how many children were insured under the All Kids Illinois health insurance on Saturday, but it is clear that children need to be insured and the program is really needed for those who had no chances and means to have a private health insurance.
