The Glycemic Impact Diet

eDiets.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:DIET), a leading online diet, fitness and healthy living destination, today announced that it has added the Glycemic Impact Diet (GID) plan to its roster of over 20 personalized nutrition and fitness programs. This plan synthesizes the most current expert diet recommendations related to both glycemic index (GI), a popular diet approach reportedly touted by celebrities including Kim Cattrall, Naomi Campbell and Bill Clinton, and glycemic load (GL), a nutrition concept developed by researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health that indicates the amount of carbohydrates and fiber per serving.

The Glycemic Impact Diet encourages dieters to eat foods with a low GI value, which prevents swings in blood sugar. Foods with a high GI Index value leave you tired and hungry within a short time. This pattern often results in chronic overeating, which can lead to excessive weight gain.

"Because the eDiets.com Glycemic Impact Diet takes both the glycemic index and glycemic load concepts into account, it helps the body sustain energy and control appetite throughout the day: two primary keys to successful weight loss and maintenance," said Susan Burke, eDiets.com Chief Nutritionist.

The eDiets.com Glycemic Impact Diet consists of whole grain foods, lean meats, low and nonfat dairy, vegetarian options such as soy protein and tofu, and healthy fats contained in nuts and fish.
