for eMaxHealthThese days the media is full of reports related to Medicare, on how the Social Security is going to be paid in the next few decades and on Immigration. While so many people are worried about expanding the immigration we argue that immigration is key to solving the Social Security, Medicare and health care.
Soon, the baby boomers will start collecting Social Security and considerable number of these people will depend on Medicare for their health care. The country is in the deficit spending. All jobs are going to overseas. The dollar is falling and the prices are going up. How the society is going to support Medicare and Social Security?
It is the immigrants throughout the centuries that made the United States the country that the United States is now. More lenient immigration policies, while securing the security, would greatly benefit the society to address the issues of Healthcare and Social Security.
Immigrants are mainly younger people who are willing to take risks. They have the entrepreneurial spirit and are willing to work to succeed in the open and democratic society that the citizens of USA have created. This means that more younger people will pay taxes, which in return will secure the flow of future payments of Social Security and provision of Medicare for the elderly. The immigrants tend to have more children, which means more spending and cash flow injection in the economy.
The reports in the media are that there are estimated 10.3 million illegal immigrants in USA. The reaction to this is mixed. Some say we can't reward people who broke the law and are in this country illegally, others favor better reforms for US immigration. Speaking of breaking the law. Perhaps it may be true. However, these illegal immigrants have done so because they had almost no other chance of survival in their home countries. They did so with the hope of providing daily bread to their children who do not have access to proper health care in their home countries and the money is the only thing that talks.
The societies in any country have the calling of being more compassionate. Most of the illegal immigrants are people with integrity, honor, strong family and religious values. They have great work ethics and are willing to take the jobs that most of the citizens of developed countries are not willing to do because they have access to better opportunities.
The point is that if the country gives a chance or amnesty to these people they all will be documented. It is better to know what the 10.3 million people are doing and who they are, than not knowing at all what these people are doing and intend to do. Is it not better to collect taxes from 10.3 million people and pay for Medicare and Social Security? It is believed that these people will perform even better if they are given a chance and if they know that there is a place for them in this society. Otherwise, who has the heart and means to deport 10.3 million immigrants?
