April is National Donate Life Month

In 2003, April was established as National Donate Life Month. It is a time to celebrate the generosity of those who have saved lives by donating blood, bone marrow, or organs.

Did you know that more than 98,000 people are in need of an organ transplant? Did you know that each day, nearly 77 people get the organ transplant that gives them a second chance at life? Did you know that more than 17 others die each day waiting for the organ that would have saved their life?

To become a donor, begin by making it known that you want to be a donor. Check the YES to donation on your driver’s license. Tell your family and friends that you wish to be a donor. Give blood now and again in 56 days.

Encourage others around you to do the same. Encourage your family, friends, co-workers, and others to do the same.
